Diego Amadei, Marina Colombo, Sebastiano Vida - Italy -   Be Cool 52
Unmistakable identity of the project. To carve the sea. The boat is where and how, the place and the way in order to act better the exclusive behaviour. BC 52' shows without fear its affection to the car design's world. Clear-cut curves and surfaces that intersect themselves. Air inlet and sun roof. A sporty vessel that sails in calm waters. Be Cool proposes itself like an easy sailer for short cruises, one Mediterranean sail with a performance hull. All the choices have been made following this objective, we realized the wish "to open the pleasure", to create a completely opened space, thanks to the deckhouse glass window that slides and opens itself over the inner dinette that transforms itself in a large sunsuit. To extend the space and to facilitate the rigging. The pleasure before the duty. The relax comfort is the translation of the wide terrace over the sea.

Rodrigo Roberto Berlim - Brazil -   Green Bow

Charles Bertrand - France -   Sly 50
Designing a yacht with the potential to become the next Sly Yacht is no easy task. Such a yacht has to feature high performance, advanced styling and elegance, as well as bear the smallest possible environmental impact while serving for charter use. Precisely, she has to provide fun and peace of mind to her guests and a lot of attention was drawn into this, making this boat genuinely efficient as a charter yacht. Reduced heel and improved sailing comfort, better access to shallow anchorages, improved on-deck comfort and easy access to the sea, advanced technology and styling are just a few of the many reasons that will make sure the guests are enjoying their time and feel like they are sailing a yacht like no other.

Julien Boniface - France -   Senza titolo
This project aims to create contemporary charters: innovative design, high performance, and low environmental impact. One tends to get a larger sailboat without being excessive. A controlled estimated use of materials (sandwich core composite and carbon) gives the boats a rather light overall finish, requiring the use of less energy, whether it be during construction or later operation. This does not exclude an overall flattering and refined design, with a short deck, modelled according to current standards: a good boat is first a beautiful boat. A charter first, the boat offers a spacious setting, creating an all around convivial atmosphere. The cockpit and the saloon are positioned next to each other, both within visual contact of the hatch. The charter offers three spacious cabins with two medium sized toilets. Particular care was taken to limit the environmental impact, hence the choice of a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion (Whisper prop DE), which combines ease of use (maintenance, acoustics) and ecology (consumption, chemical discharge). The materials are chosen with the same idea in mind (FSC exotic wood, bamboo veneers and reconstructed wood).

Stéphane Boucher, Rickard Gustafsson - France and Sweden -   Sly 53 CC
There's always a difference from how we want to appear and how other people perceive us. In the case of SLY Yachts the image is that it is all about "Enjoy sailing". And what would that mean? Could it be performance boats with all the characteristics of a racing boat yet maintaining all the comforts of the cruising yachts? It is called Sly53 CC where CC stands for Charter-Cruiser. The concept is strong, it's about having all kinds of people onboard and at the same time making sure they are all having a good time whatever their previous experiences from sailing might be. Because of this the Sly53 CC has been developed around the usability and comfort of the people going onboard.

Daniele Fiachi, Johana Kriznic - Italy -   Next Sly 16m
Our boat is a 16 metres Fast Cruiser with fluid and rational form aesthetically pleasant and functionally seafaring. Following the contest applications we try to create ample external places for the day and comfortable interior for the night. To the outside, there is a very big cockpit that make possible to create a big sun-zone aft the pedestals and a garage for tender under the cockpit. The flush deck and the deck free from all the manouvres make feel the ambient extremely clean at the same time a sense of confidence because you can move on the deck without any obstacles. Inside thanks to the coachroof windows in Sly style, the perpex roof and the perpex bulkhead between interior and cockpit, we have a sensation of brightness and room, that is rare on a sailing boat.

Emanuele Dufour - Italy -   Let's play the waves
Approaching modernity through tradition: this is the philosophy of the whole project. Technical and style solutions, with a large yachting tradition, are employed in this project and reach innovation. Charming and sportive without extravagant excesses, this charter/fast cruiser yacht aims high performance (especially sailing downwind) and easy sailing. The key points of the design are the followings: 1) The "gennaker chute", inheritance of the mythical FD. Moving aft the stay (that gives a classical elegance) allows putting the gennaker chute. 2) The maximum beam at transom increases downwind performances andallows a comfortable cockpit. 3) The style of deck saloon evolves: its lay out follows the "U-shaped" skylight; the mast beyond the sofa completes the area without breaking it.

Davide Galli, Francesco Abodi - Italy -   Sly 53XL
This boat is built to satisfy the high standards of modern charter yachts making possible to accommodate ten people contemporary in five different cabins with various standards. The exterior lines of the SLY 53-XL are a stylistic result built around the necessary interior spaces and at the same time allowing for a lot of light and air to enter the yacht. The open-space sensation is accented through the centre skylight that during the day puts the area between the air and sea but at night it emerges under the stars. The space is further enriched by shadows and lights as the sun rays are filtered through the perforated solar cell films attached to the windows. In the cockpit two seats are found with pillows and retractable back supports. Two individual fold-away tables can be used in a relaxing zone under the curtain that is extractable from the boom and can be fixed on telescopic bars.

Adrien Jousset - France -   Sly 50 Hybrid
The Sly 50 Hybrid has been designed to leave the smallest signature on the environment. It has been developed including a full range of environment friendly features, to enjoy sailing and the sea to full with no compromise on safety or comfort regardless of destination. A particular attention has been given to the durability. She is a light boat, having waste water tank, limiting energy consumption. This pleads in favour of a modern construction based on the sandwich. It requires epoxy resin, and the use of natural fibre, such as linen and Balsa, a good core as traditional foam production process is highly polluting. The interior is a combination of natural atmosphere. The material used includes bamboo and a Balsa/Gaboon sandwich. The exciting look is a blend of soft curves and angular lines bringing an elegant sportiveness. The stern is reserved for endless period of lazy sunbathing and sea swimming.

Matteo Olivieri, Gianluca Tramonti, Francesco Nasato - Italy -   Sly DE 50
The main purpose behind Sly De 50 Cruiser is the pleasure to sail, that is to enjoy both the onboard comfort linked to the emotion and performances. The hull's sharp lines recall the modern ocean racer having the capabilities to exalt the boat performances both in upwind and downwind conditions. The hull shape and sail plan are designed to optimize fresh and light winds performances. From midship to transom sections the boat is quite wide and the steering is guaranteed by a twin GRP wheels. The deck layout is aimed to light up the living areas underneath and also to create a visual continuity giving a strong link between interior and exterior parts. The living area style recalls a pleasant and refined lounge atmosphere. The wide cockpit is complementary to the living area and it is characterized by distinguishing sun benches located at the top sides, creating a totally new concept.

Edoardo Pitton - Italy -   Sly 53 TG (Tender Garage)
Approaching this project I've taken as an example the great "SLY 53" and I designed a 16 m sailing boat with an inflate tender aft garage, preserving the internal space. Considering the charter vocation of the contest briefing, I think this feature is a very important plus for a yacht of this length, usually a biggest yacht's feature. For this reason I created an unusual design, in contrast with low and open aft current trend. So I approached an aft displacement of the volume that gives to me the opportunity to design an unusual hull-deck-deckhouse loopline that characterizes the boat.

Federico Quondamatteo, Giacomo de carolis, Marco Scuderi - Italy -   Star Sly
The idea of a light displacement and a performing hull has been shaped thanks to the comparison of non-dimensional ratios within 114 yachts in the range of 14 and 16 metres LOA. The numerical analysis led to the research of different hull shapes and the best stability, with the intent of concentrate all the weight of loosing items at the lowest level. Three hulls have than been compared through several runs of VPP which also helped to establish the sail area configuration. The structures were dimensioned accordingly with the interior design. The result is a mono-surface structure realizable with a single mould to increase stiffness and reduce the need of material, nevertheless to optimize the production chain. The research behind the project is due to emphasize a neat functionality, avoid all the useless accessories, optimize at best the deck area and to simplify the production process toward an ecofriendly solution. The design signature of the deck layout is a multi-pierced surface on both sides of the coach roof with a eye shape inspired by Sly, with the function of brise-soleil.

Maurizio Trottoli - Italy -   Bomb 50
Dynamism, technology, sport and respect for the environment are the principles on which the planning of a Sly Yacht is based. Who uses a Sly first of all would like to enjoy the force of the wind strictly close to the nature that surround him: the features of this boat will allow him to do that in the best way, particularly, the hull. I designed shows tight and soft lines: from one part the tight lines determine force and dynamism while the soft lines (that go from the base of the shaft to the aft) are the real link to the external elements used to catch energy. Watching the boat from outside, the spacious windows increase the sensation of force, dynamism and strength while from inside the boat, the dimension and the shape allow you to get in contact with outside.
